The current unemployment rate remains a major concern, exacerbated by financial constraints, but a solution may be on the horizon.

In an interview with Accra FM, Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe, Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central Constituency, expressed her commitment to driving job creation and empowering her constituents through seed capital. She believes these initiatives will not only alleviate poverty but also provide sustainable livelihoods for future generations.

Hon. Cudjoe highlighted the critical role gold plays in Ghana’s economy, stressing the importance of responsible mining practices. She urged miners to comply with GoldBod directives and avoid engaging in illegal activities, such as Galamsey, which harm the environment and threaten the nation’s water bodies and forest reserves.

The government has ramped up efforts to tackle the illegal mining menace, and Hon. Cudjoe echoed her support for these initiatives, underscoring their potential to protect the environment for future generations.

Despite the challenges, Hon. Cudjoe shared that her tenure as MP has already seen significant progress, including the recruitment of 30 community police officers, 15 fire service personnel, 10 ambulance workers, 28 in the prisons service, and nearly 85 youth screened for international employment opportunities.

Additionally, a number of Amenfi Central youth have been successfully enlisted in key national services such as the Ghana Police Service, the Military, Immigration, Customs, and Health Services.

The once impoverished Amenfi Central Constituency is beginning to see positive change, and with continued effort and divine favor, Hon. Cudjoe is optimistic about a brighter future for her constituents.

She reaffirmed her dedication to ensuring the people of Amenfi Central never lack the opportunities they deserve.
