President John Dramani Mahama has inaugurated the Tema Port Expansion Project.
The inauguration follows the completion of phases one and two of the project.
The project is a public–private partnership between Meridian Port Services (MPS), APM Terminals and other partners including the Ghana Ports & Harbours Authority.

The expansion was privately funded, and according to President Mahama; the collaboration highlights Ghana’s ability to leverage private capital for national development.
Mr Mahama said the Tema port expansion project is “one of the most ambitious infrastructure developments in Africa’s maritime sector.”

Ghana, he noted, is positioning itself as the gateway to West Africa’s maritime sector.
“This project is more than a Ghanaian achievement. It is an African statement,” he added.

With its current capacity and advanced systems, the Tema Port is the preferred first-call terminal for major shipping lines entering the Gulf of Guinea.
