Ghana’s President, John Dramani Mahama, has eulogised the late former First Lady of Ghana, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, saying the country is proud is her achievement.

President Mahama was at the residence of the Rawlings family on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, to commiserate with them on Nana Konadu’s passing.

Nana Konadu died on Thursday, October 23, 2025 at age 76.

In a statement he wrote in her book of condolence, President Mahama lauded Nana Konadu for her service to the nation for 19 solid years as First Lady.

He wrote: “Ghana is proud of your achievement in your 19 solid years as First Lady and mother of the nation.”

He added “While we are all saddened by your passing, we celebrate your life. It’s been unsettling that you passed when we were just planning the fifth anniversary and final funeral rites for our former President, your husband. You have fought a good fight and deserve a peaceful rest.”

According to Mahama, the former First Lady was committed to women and national development.

He said “She took women’s empowerment as her focus. When we go around the country, you see evidence of her work. On behalf of the people of Ghana and the government, I extend our condolences and sympathy to the family.”
