Ghana: Helicopter Crash Victims’ Children Get Full Scholarships

Children of Ghanaian politicians and military personnel who died in an helicopter crash on August 6, 2025, have been awarded full scholarships.

The scholarships were awarded by B5 Plus Group and DPS International School.

Per the initiative, two children from each bereaved family will receive full scholarships to attend DPS International School in Tema. The package covers the entire cost of education from the basic level through to A-Levels, including tuition fees, uniforms, and boarding facilities where necessary.

Chief of Staff at the Presidency in Ghana, Julius Debrah, received the scholarship offer on behalf of the families at a ceremony held at his office in Accra.

Mr. Debrah thanked DPS and B5 Plus for the scholarships, describing the gesture as a strong example of private sector commitment to nation-building and social responsibility.

Presidential Advisor on Legal Affairs and former Attorney-General, Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong, also praised the initiative.

She highlighted the long-term benefits of investing in the education of the affected children and commended DPS International for its excellent academic reputation.

She mentioned one of the school’s notable alumni, Oheneba Kwame Kyeretwie, son of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, who is currently studying Astronomy at Wesleyan University in the United States.

According to her, the initiative will be warmly received by the President, as it serves as a meaningful tribute to the lives lost.
