Veteran Ghanaian actor Fred Amugi has debunked rumours claiming he vowed never to act alongside fellow actor Agya Koo, assuring fans that he has no issues working with him on any movie project.
Speaking in an interview with MC Portfolio on Angel FM on Friday, October 10, Amugi firmly denied ever making such a statement, stressing, “I never said I will never act in a movie involving Agya Koo. I never said this, and I will repeat it ten times if I’m asked.”
The veteran actor, however, recalled an incident that occurred years ago during a film shoot in Kumasi involving Agya Koo. He explained that while they were scheduled to shoot some night scenes, Agya Koo arrived late and reportedly refused to participate in the scenes, saying he does not shoot at night — a move Amugi described as disrespectful and unprofessional at the time.
“Some years back, I left Accra to Kumasi to shoot a movie which Agya Koo was also part of. We were supposed to shoot night scenes, but when he arrived, he said he doesn’t shoot at night. That action was very disrespectful,” Amugi recounted.
Feeling disrespected, Amugi said he left the set the following morning, adding, “If you’re an actor and you think you can dictate to your director what you want, then you’re not ready for the job.”
Despite the past misunderstanding, Amugi emphasized that he holds no grudges against Agya Koo and would be happy to collaborate with him again.
“That was years ago. If today there’s a movie role involving Agya Koo, I’ll gladly do it. It’s all part of the job,” he stated.
His clarification puts to rest long-standing speculations about tension between the two renowned actors, reinforcing Amugi’s reputation for professionalism and maturity in the Ghanaian film industry.
