The government of Ghana has formed a planning committee to oversee the burial and funeral arrangements of two Ghanaian ministers and six other prominent Ghanaian personalities who died in a tragic helicopter crash on Wednesday.
A deputy spokesperson of the Ghanaian government, Shamima Muslim, made this known in an interview with Accra-based CitiFM.
The plane crash on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, claimed the lives of Ghana’s Defence Minister, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, and six others.

According to Ms. Muslim, the committee has been formed, saying “We will communicate in real time the various actions that we are going to be taking.”
She says “it is safe to say that we are all doing what it takes to ease the pain for the families, the government, and put in place all the necessary plans.”
According to her, “There is a planning committee at work to ensure a smooth process towards what should be a very simple process.”
The plane crash happened in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region.
The other persons who died in the crash as confirmed by the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, are Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, and Samuel Aboagye a former Parliamentary Candidate, and Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of NDC.
