The Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) of Ghana has dismissed as false, a report by news portal, norvanreport.com alleging that the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and promoter of Springfield Energy, Kevin Okyere, has been arrested and detained in Dubai after EOCO’s failure to act on a petition alleging defrauding by false pretense.
EOCO, in a statement released on Sunday, November 2, 2025, said the news report was “false and misleading.”
It urged the public to disregard the claims made in the report.
EOCO disclosed in its release that there are currently two active investigations involving Springfield Energy – one based on a petition filed against the company, and another concerning an ongoing case between Springfield Energy and the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company (BOST).
According to the release, “It is the policy directive of the leadership of EOCO that investigations must precede arrest and not the reverse.”
It said the case involving BOST and Springfield Energy is being treated as a priority due to its potential impact on BOST’s finances and the broader economy, adding that Norvanreport.com failed to seek clarification before publishing the story.
It said “Though EOCO does not comment on active investigations, it is regrettable that Norvanreport.com did not seek clarification from EOCO before running the false story.”
