The Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State, Togbe Afede XIV, has identified corruption as a major barrier to Ghana’s progress, urging national leaders to embrace honesty and integrity as guiding principles for development.
Speaking at the 2025 Asogli Yam Festival grand durbar on Sunday, October 5, Togbe Afede stressed that corruption continues to undermine the nation’s growth due to the failure to uphold truth and accountability.
“Corruption has been a stumbling block to our development, and it is the result of our inability to hold on to the path of truth and strict honesty,” he said.
He explained that the festival’s theme—centered on honesty, unity, peace, and prosperity—was carefully chosen to remind Ghanaians that national progress depends on collective integrity and moral discipline.
“Together, in unity and prosperity, we can build a just, peaceful, and prosperous nation,” Togbe Afede added.
