Ghana and Nigeria To Tackle Cybercrime Through Bilateral Cooperation

 

The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Hon Samuel Nartey George (MP), has met with the Nigerian High Commissioner, Ambassador Ibok-Ete Ekwe Iban, to discuss ways to address the high incidence of Nigerians involved in cybercrimes in Ghana.

The meeting, held on February 16, 2026, aimed to review the outcomes of Ghana’s recent crackdown on cybercrime and explore avenues for enhanced cooperation to safeguard the digital space.

Ambassador Ibok-Ete Ekwe Iban expressed concern over the arrests and pledged to tackle the root causes, emphasizing the need to protect law-abiding Nigerians and strengthen border security.

He noted the strong relationship between Ghana and Nigeria and urged Nigerians to be good ambassadors of their country.

The meeting highlighted the commitment of both nations to combat cybercrime and promote a secure digital environment.
