Former Ivorian President Laurent Gbagbo Mourns Death of Journalist Alberic Niangbo

Former Ivorian President Laurent Gbagbo has expressed deep sorrow over the death of journalist Alberic Niangbo, a member of the Communications Commission of his political party, the African Peoples’ Party–Côte d’Ivoire (PPA-CI).

In a statement, Gbagbo announced with “profound sadness” the passing of Mr. Niangbo, a former journalist with Ivorian Radio and Television (RTI). He passed away on the morning of Saturday, October 4, 2025, after a long illness.

Gbagbo paid tribute to Niangbo’s career, describing it as one defined by “loyalty, professionalism, and dedication.” He also extended his heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased and directed members of the PPA-CI leadership and local officials to participate fully in the funeral arrangements.

Details of the funeral programme are yet to be announced.
