Fleur du Cap Theatre Awards Celebrate 60th Anniversary in Grand Style

The Fleur du Cap Theatre Awards, often referred to as Cape Town’s ‘Oscars’ of theatre, marked their 60th anniversary with a dazzling ceremony at DHL Cape Town Stadium on Sunday, 23 March. The event honored outstanding contributions to the performing arts, celebrating the resilience and creativity of South African talent.

 

Top Winners of the Night

My Fair Lady, presented by Pieter Toerien Productions and Cape Town Opera, emerged as the biggest winner, securing five awards, including:

  • Best Performance by a Lead Actress in a MusicalLeah Mari as Eliza Doolittle
  • Best Performance by a Supporting Actor in a MusicalGraham Hopkins as Colonel Pickering
  • Best Set DesignGreg King

His contributions include establishing the Encyclopaedia of South African Theatre, Film, Media, and Performance (ESAT), a vital resource for the industry.
