The Fleur du Cap Theatre Awards, often referred to as Cape Town’s ‘Oscars’ of theatre, marked their 60th anniversary with a dazzling ceremony at DHL Cape Town Stadium on Sunday, 23 March. The event honored outstanding contributions to the performing arts, celebrating the resilience and creativity of South African talent.
Top Winners of the Night
My Fair Lady, presented by Pieter Toerien Productions and Cape Town Opera, emerged as the biggest winner, securing five awards, including:
- Best Production
- Best Performance by a Lead Actress in a Musical – Leah Mari as Eliza Doolittle
- Best Performance by a Supporting Actor in a Musical – Graham Hopkins as Colonel Pickering
- Best Set Design – Greg King
- Best Costume Design – Neil Stuart Harris, Andrew Botha, and Martha Visagie

- Best Performance by a Lead Actor in a Musical – Dean Balie (Ver In Die Wêreld Kittie)

Lifetime Achievement Award
The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Professor Temple Hauptfleisch for his pioneering research and documentation of South African theatre. His contributions include establishing the Encyclopaedia of South African Theatre, Film, Media, and Performance (ESAT), a vital resource for the industry.
