Ghana: First Lady Lordina Mahama to speak at UN prayer service for children

Ghana’s First Lady, Her Excellency Mrs. Lordina Mahama, is set to deliver a keynote address at the 7th Annual Prayer Service for Children on the sidelines of the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.

The event, organised by World Vision International and other global faith-based and humanitarian organisations, will take place on Monday, 22 September 2025, from 08:00 to 09:00 ET at the Church Center for the United Nations, Tillman Chapel.

Held under the theme “A Moment of Hope,” this year’s service will focus on six dimensions of hope: compassion, resilience, purpose, joy, wisdom, and spiritual life.

The goal is to inspire global leaders to reflect and act on behalf of the world’s most vulnerable children, especially during a time of global crisis.

Mrs. Mahama’s invitation to speak at the event highlights her continued dedication to improving the welfare of children in Ghana and across the world. Her work in promoting access to healthcare, education, and social protection for children has earned her international recognition.

Other speakers include Rev. Andrew J. Morley, President and CEO of World Vision International, and Mrs. Cindy McCain, Executive Director of the United Nations World Food Programme.

The prayer service brings together world leaders, faith leaders, and humanitarian partners to unite in prayer and call for action to protect children and support their development.

The event will be livestreamed via YouTube and can be accessed here: [Watch Live](https://www.youtube.com/live/CAbfYONYH3Q)
