On July 14, 2025, the Dansoman Circuit Court remanded 32-year-old filmmaker Israel Agbo Forson into custody after he pleaded not guilty to a charge of threatening death, following incidents involving police officers.
The case began on June 18, 2025, when a National Police Patrol Team stopped an Uber vehicle near Wisconsin University in Accra, with Forson as a passenger. Officers requested to search the vehicle and Forson’s luggage, but he objected, insisting they wear gloves, leading to a verbal altercation that he recorded. Both parties agreed to proceed to the Taifa Police Station, where a search was conducted in the presence of the District Commander, and Forson was granted police enquiry bail.
Shortly after his release, Forson allegedly recorded and shared a second video on social media, threatening to kill any police officer who crossed his path. Police intelligence identified him as the individual in the video, leading to his arrest on June 23, 2025, in an operation at his North Legon residence. A search of his home yielded no incriminating evidence.
The prosecution, led by Chief Inspector Christopher Wonder, described Forson’s actions as unlawful and a threat to public order. The case has been adjourned for further investigation, with Forson remaining in custody pending additional proceedings.
