FIFA has handed Sudan Football Association vice president Yasser Nasreddin Hamza Al-Samani a 15-match suspension after he assaulted a match official during a World Cup qualifier last month.
The incident occurred following Sudan’s 1-0 defeat to Togo in Lome, which ended their hopes of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
FIFA also imposed a three-match ban on Sudan’s assistant coach, Ignatius Osei-Fosu of Ghana, citing “unsporting behaviour towards match officials.” The referees for the September 9 fixture were from Madagascar.
In addition to the suspensions, both Al-Samani and Osei-Fosu were each fined CHF 5,000 (approximately $6,214).
