Turkish Superlig giants, Fenerbache have sacked their Portuguese head coach, José Mourinho with immediate effect.
Fenerbache announced Mourinho’s dismissal in a post on its verified social media handles, two days after its 1 – 0 aggregate defeat to Portuguese club, Benfica in the 2025 / 2026 Uefa Champions League play-off.
In the post, Fenerbache said “We have parted ways with José Mourinho, who has been the manager of our Professional Football A Team from 2024-2025 season.”
It added “We would like to thank him for his efforts for our team so far and wish him success in his future career.”
Mourinho joined Fenerbache from Italian side, AS Roma back in 2024. His arrival in Turkey was tipped to help improve the fortunes of the club but he never lived up to expectations. He lost the Turkish Superlig title and Turkish Cup title to rivals Galatasaray last season.
