EOCO Dismantles Trafficking Syndicate, Frees Seven Nigerians Forced Into Online Fraud in Ghana
EOCO’s Report

The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has uncovered and disrupted a human trafficking and cybercrime scheme in the Greater Accra Region, rescuing seven Nigerian nationals who were allegedly coerced into carrying out online fraud.

The operation, conducted under EOCO’s ongoing Operation LIFELINE, took place on Friday, November 14, 2025, at a residence in the Mataheko–Afienya enclave. According to an official statement released on Monday, November 17, the agency apprehended 10 individuals during the raid—all Nigerian nationals—comprising three suspected traffickers and seven victims.

Investigations indicate that the victims, aged between 17 and 30, were trafficked into Ghana after being deceived with promises of stable, legitimate employment. Upon arrival, however, they were forced into cybercrime activities and subjected to exploitative living and working conditions. EOCO noted that the victims are currently receiving support as part of its victim protection framework.

The agency used the opportunity to call on the public to report any suspicious activities involving foreign nationals or unusually high digital operations within residential areas. It also reiterated its caution to landlords and property managers to conduct proper background checks before renting out their facilities.

EOCO stressed that individuals who participate in, support, or knowingly facilitate cybercrime networks will face arrest and prosecution. The agency reaffirmed its commitment to combating organised crime, protecting vulnerable persons, and curbing the rising trend of trafficking-linked cyber fraud in the country.
