Nigerian actress Empress Njamah shocked fans by sharing a video on Instagram on July 11, 2025, in which she turned down a surprise marriage proposal from a close male friend, whom she referred to as the “King of Abuja.”
In the video, the man got down on one knee and professed his love, saying, “I prayed to God and He answered me and brought you my way. Will you marry me?” Visibly emotional, Empress respectfully declined the proposal, expressing gratitude for his bold gesture in front of his friends and family but emphasizing her desire to maintain their friendship.
“I am so emotional right now, but I have to speak,” she said. “You actually omitted the fact that you threw this in front of your friends and family. I respect them so much, and I am overwhelmed. I didn’t expect that it would happen so soon. Coming from the King of Abuja, for you to go on your knees, to do this for me… and at the end of the day, I said I am not interested.”
In her caption, Empress clarified her stance: “AND I SAID NOOOOO. SAID NO TO MY GEE. GEE NO DEY MARRY GEE, BETTER FRIENDS THAN LOVERS.”
