Egypt is drafting a new trade policy aimed at addressing import costs and positioning the country for participation in upcoming regional trade agreements, Planning Minister Rania Al-Mashat said on Wednesday.
Speaking during a panel at the Reuters NEXT Gulf Summit in Abu Dhabi, Al-Mashat explained that the new policy framework will focus on managing the cost and pricing of imports from different regions to enhance economic stability and competitiveness.
Egypt, one of the world’s largest wheat importers, continues to face challenges from global supply disruptions and rising import costs, underscoring the importance of a comprehensive trade strategy.
