Renowned Ghanaian musician and Pan-African music icon Edem Goget’em has officially kicked off 2025 with an uplifting anthem, “Higher,” featuring Afrobeat/Afro-swing star KiDi.
Blending highlife and contemporary Afro-sounds, “Higher” delivers a powerful message of hope and resilience in challenging times. Inspired by a popular Ghanaian church praise song, Edem revealed how a youth choir’s performance sparked the idea for the track.
“I saw them sing this powerful praise song, and it struck me—why not turn this into a beautiful highlife song that could resonate worldwide? And I believe I’ve done just that,” he shared.
Beyond its melodic richness, “Higher” carries a deep social message. Edem acknowledges the struggles many young people face today, stating, “Poverty is creeping into the minds of the youth, and the fear of not succeeding is pushing people into things they don’t truly want to do. This song is a reminder to hold on to hope and faith—everything will eventually work out.”
The collaboration with KiDi adds a unique charm to the track. Speaking about his feature, Edem said with a laugh, “KiDi on the song—because why not?” before praising his performance: “He delivered beautifully. His message was straight to the point, and it fired up the hope that joy will come to us like a river.”
Now available on all streaming platforms, “Higher” is more than just a song—it’s a daily motivation for anyone seeking strength and encouragement.
