In a heartwarming surprise reveal, Eddie Murphy announced that his son Eric Murphy has quietly tied the knot with Jasmin Lawrence, daughter of fellow comedy legend Martin Lawrence.
Speaking on The Jennifer Hudson Show, the Beverly Hills Cop star shared that the couple recently eloped, opting for an intimate ceremony over the elaborate wedding that was initially in the works.
“They got married like two weeks ago,” Murphy said. “Everyone was making big wedding plans and then they decided they wanted to do something quiet, just the two of them.”
Murphy playfully added that the decision came as a financial relief to Martin Lawrence:
“Yeah, we’re in-laws. He don’t have to pay for the big wedding now.”
Eric and Jasmin, who announced their engagement back in November, are reportedly planning a celebratory party to mark the occasion with friends and family.
Murphy and Lawrence, close friends for decades, previously starred together in Boomerang (1992) and Life (1999). During the interview, Murphy hinted that the pair are exploring new film projects together, including his long-held dream of remaking the classic comedy It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World.
The union of their children has brought the iconic duo even closer, officially making them family and adding a joyful new chapter to their long-standing friendship.
