E1 Lagos GP: Team Brazil Secures First Win in Historic African Debut

Team Brazil, led by pilot Timmy Hansen, emerged victorious at the E1 Lagos GP on Sunday, claiming their first-ever win in the all-electric powerboat series. The event marked a historic milestone as Lagos became the first African city to host the E1 World Championship, often dubbed the “Formula One of the seas.”

Race Day Dominance

Team Brazil showcased commanding performance throughout the Lagos event, dominating the group stages, race-offs, and ultimately the final. They finished ahead of Team Blue Rising, which took second place, and Team Drogba, which secured third on the podium.

Top contenders and fierce rivals Team Rafa and Team Brady, despite their position at the top of the championship standings coming into Lagos, missed out on the podium finishes in the dramatic penultimate race of the season.

Championship Implications

The victory earned the Brazilian team a crucial 38 points, bringing their overall season total to 89 points. However, they remain behind the current leaders in the title race with just one event left in the season.

The championship now heads to its grand finale in Miami next month, promising a high-stakes showdown for the overall title.

Promoting Sustainable Marine Transport

The E1 World Championship, which launched last year in Jeddah, blends high-speed action with cutting-edge electric technology and a strong focus on sustainability. The series was co-founded by entrepreneur Alejandro Agag (also behind Formula E and Extreme E) and former Formula One engineer Rodi Basso. Their goal is to promote cleaner and greener marine transport through competitive sport on a global stage.
