The President of Djibouti, Ismail Omar Guelleh, on Thursday, August 21, 2025, inaugurated the Saad Omar Guelleh Foundation in Tadjourah-ville, a dialysis center named in honor of his late brother, Saad Omar Guelleh.
The Foundation, established with funds from the late Guelleh’s estate, is dedicated to charitable healthcare services. It begins operations as a dialysis center equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including a modern dialysis unit and advanced water treatment system.
Staffed by a nephrologist supported by four nurses, along with two senior technicians overseeing machine maintenance, the center will initially provide care for seven patients, with capacity expected to expand to 15 by next month. Services will be offered free of charge to all patients.
Speaking at the event, President Guelleh expressed pride in the facility, noting that it would provide much-needed dialysis services in Tadjourah and across Djibouti’s northern region.
Though not state-owned, this facility will serve the public, and everyone must ensure its care, the Djibouti presidency said.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Minister of Health, Ahmed Robleh Abdilleh, the President of the National Assembly, Dileita Mohamed Dileita, and other government officials. Residents of Tadjourah turned out in large numbers to warmly welcome the President during his visit.
