DJ Kulet Reveals Harrowing Childhood Sexual Abuse by Family Member and Trauma That Led to Divorce

Ghanaian media personality and popular television host DJ Kulet has revealed harrowing details about being sexually abused by a family member during her childhood. She shared the deeply personal and painful story in an interview on the Talk to B show with actress Biola Adebayo.

Trauma and Spiritual Cleansing

DJ Kulet recounted how her mother, in an attempt to address the DJ’s childhood habit of stealing, took her for spiritual cleansing. Tragically, it was during these spiritual visits that the abuse allegedly occurred.

“I was molested at some of the places that my mum took me for spiritual cleansing. One of my family members molested me, and I could not speak out for years,” she disclosed, noting the long-lasting impact of the abuse.

Impact on Marriage

Speaking about her personal struggles, DJ Kulet also shared that her marriage to Ohis Emmanuel, which officially ended in December 2024, collapsed partly due to the unprocessed trauma she had endured as a child.

Compounding her emotional distress, she revealed that her husband was later accused of molesting a 13-year-old girl. This revelation placed an unimaginable strain on her emotional and mental health, given her own past.

“I have started weeping since the second day of our wedding but I endured for 8 months. I didn’t know I was pregnant when my marriage crisis happened, and that was the second time that I would be pregnant in my marriage,” she said.

Her candid interview sheds crucial light on the severe and often concealed psychological toll that childhood trauma and abuse can take on an individual’s later life, particularly within intimate relationships.
