The management of Dangote Petroleum Refinery has confirmed that more than 3,000 Nigerians remain employed at the facility, despite an ongoing reorganization process.
In a statement released Friday in Lagos, the company said only a small number of staff were affected by workforce adjustments, which are aimed at strengthening operations and addressing repeated acts of sabotage that posed safety risks and disrupted activities.
“Over 3,000 Nigerians continue to work actively in our petroleum refinery at present. Only a very small number of staff were affected, as we continue to recruit Nigerian talent through our various graduate trainee programmes and experienced hire recruitment process,” the statement noted.
The company described the reorganization as a necessary audit process to safeguard the long-term stability of what it called a strategic national asset. It also reassured employees and stakeholders of its commitment to internationally recognized labour principles, including workers’ freedom to decide on union membership.
The refinery further pledged to continue working with regulators, employees, and partners to uphold high standards of safety, transparency, and accountability.
