A major cross-border collaboration is set to drop this Friday, December 12, 2025, as South African Amapiano duo TXC officially announced a new single, Nakupenda, featuring Nigerian superstars Davido and Zlatan.
The announcement has quickly sparked excitement, uniting two of Africa’s biggest music movements: Afrobeats and Amapiano.
A Diverse Lineup and Swahili Title
The record features one of the most diverse lineups of the year, bringing together leading voices from both Nigeria and South Africa:
- TXC (Amapiano Duo)
- Davido (Afrobeats Megastar)
- Zlatan (Street-Pop/Afrobeats)
- Scotts Maphuma
- Shoday
- Al Xapo
The title, Nakupenda, is a Swahili phrase meaning “I love you,” suggesting themes of affection, celebration, and joy delivered over a high-energy dance sound.
Fusion and Global Anticipation
Promotional artwork shared ahead of the release describes the project as “a TXC original film,” hinting at a strong visual and creative direction to accompany the single.
The collaboration adds to a growing list of partnerships between Nigerian and South African artists, a movement that industry watchers see as key to strengthening Africa’s global music presence. With the combined influence of TXC, Davido, and Zlatan, Nakupenda is already being tipped as a potential club and festival favorite across the continent.
The single is expected to arrive on streaming platforms this Friday, with anticipation continuing to build ahead of its release.
