In an interview with Canal 11, global Cristiano Ronaldo has made it clear that he will not be returning to his boyhood club, Sporting, before hanging up his boots.

Ronaldo, who began his illustrious career at Sporting’s youth academy, expressed his love for the club, stating, “I love watching Sporting games, it’s my team!” However, he quickly dismissed any speculation about a potential return, saying, “But no, never considered a return there as it makes no sense.”

The 40-year-old Portuguese forward, who has gone on to achieve unparalleled success with Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus, emphasized that his decision has nothing to do with the quality of Portuguese football.

“My career started in Portugal…and it’s not because I don’t like Portuguese football or there’s no quality, no,” Ronaldo explained. “I just think everything has a time and a limit, and so I never thought about Sporting.”

Ronaldo’s statement puts an end to speculation about a potential homecoming, and fans of the Portuguese international will have to content themselves with watching him play for his current club, rather than a nostalgic return to his roots.
