A High Court in Abuja, the federal capital of Nigeria, has fined Nigerian Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan 5 million naira for contempt.

The Court has also ordered Natasha who represents Kogi Central in the Nigerian Senate to within seven days, publish an apology to it in two national dailies and also on her Facebook page.

Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, on Friday, July 4, 2025 found the suspended Senator guilty of contempt.

In a ruling delivered Friday morning, the court held that Natasha went against its order by publishing a satirical apology to the Senator President, Godswill Akpabio.

As reported, Natasha had shared a satirical apology on her social media handles.

And the High Court held that the post made a mockery of a gag order that was placed on the parties by the court

Consequently, the court ordered her to within seven days, publish an apology to it in two national dailies and also on her Facebook page.

Even though the court decision followed a contempt action that was initiated by Senator Akpabio, the court declined to issue any order in his favour.
