Chidimma Adetshina Wins Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 Pageant After Being Forced Out Of Miss South Africa Contest
Miss Taraba State, Chidimma Adetshina, has won the Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 Pageant.
Adetshina had been forced to withdraw from Miss South Africa beauty Pageant a few weeks ago following nationality dispute. Adetshina, a 23-year-old law student suffered xenophobic backlash over her nationality.
After she pulled out of Miss South Africa, she was invited to participate in Miss Universe Nigeria, winning the competition eventually.
President of Silverbird Group, organizers of Miss Universe Nigeria, announced Adetshina as the winner at the grand finale held at the Eko Hotel on Saturday, August, 31, 2024.
Adetshina will represent Nigeria at the Miss Universe on the world stage in November this year.
Speaking at the finale after being announced the winner, Adetshina said: “This crown is not just for beauty; it’s a call for unity.”
Adetshina is a Soweto-born beauty queen. She was born to a Nigerian father and a South African mother.
She was compelled to withdraw from Miss South Africa 2024 just days before the finale after South Africa’s Home Affairs found what it deemed to be prima facie evidence her parents may have allegedly committed identity fraud when she born, raising doubts about her South African citizenship.
