Burna Boy’s mega Grammy performance ranked 6th by Billboard

Nigerian megastar, Burna Boy real name Damini Ogulu, made a splash at the 2024 Grammys, earning the 6th spot on Billboard’s performance rankings, even though he didn’t take home an award.

His electrifying debut marked the first-ever Afrobeats performance on the Grammys stage.

Burna Boy dazzled the audience with “Sittin’ on Top of the World,” alongside Grammy-winning R&B icon Brandy and rapper 21 Savage.

His infectious energy and undeniable charisma brought the house down, according to Billboard’s review.

“Burna Boy pulled out all the stops,” Billboard declared, praising the vibrant stage design and clever costumes that united the performers despite their distinct styles.

They compared the atmosphere to a classic Hollywood musical, highlighting the Nigerian star’s effortless stage presence.

While Burna Boy didn’t win the inaugural Best African Music Performance award, which went to South African singer Tyla, his impactful performance solidified his place as a global music force.

The 66th Grammy Award Premiere Ceremony took place at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles.
