Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy has reaffirmed his position as Nigeria’s most influential global music export, topping Spotify’s 2024 list of most streamed Nigerian artists outside Nigeria.
According to Spotify’s 2024 data, Burna Boy’s global appeal is evident, with three of his albums surpassing 500 million streams, making him the only African artist to achieve this feat. He has been at the forefront of the Afrobeats wave, showcasing Nigerian culture on a worldwide scale.
Following closely behind Burna Boy is Grammy-nominated artist Ayra Starr, who had a stellar year with the release of her sophomore album, ‘The Year I Turned 21.’ Rema clinches the third spot, propelled by the global success of his mega-hit single “Calm Down,” which became the first African song to surpass 1 billion streams.
Grammy winner Tems comes in fourth, following the release of her debut album ‘Born In The Wild,’ while Omah Lay rounds off the top five, showcasing his growing global footprint with hits that have captured the hearts of listeners worldwide.
The top 10 list also includes notable mentions such as Asake, Wizkid, Davido, Fireboy DML, and Victony, underscoring the immense influence and reach of Nigerian music on the global stage.
