Burna Boy Donates $100,000 to VeryDarkMan to Free Prisoners and Settle Hospital Bills

Afrobeats megastar Burna Boy has made a massive charitable gesture, donating $100,000 (approximately ₦150 million) to social media activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) to fund a nationwide humanitarian project.

The announcement was made in a viral video shared online, showing the “Last Last” singer seated beside VeryDarkMan as the details of the donation were revealed to the public.

Project Breakdown: Prisoners and Patients

VeryDarkMan outlined a specific and transparent plan for the $100,000, explaining that the funds would be split equally between two critical areas of need:

  1. Freeing Fined Prisoners ($50,000 / ~₦75 million): These funds are designated to secure the release of individuals currently incarcerated solely because they cannot afford to pay court-imposed fines. These fines typically range from ₦30,000 to ₦300,000.
  2. Medical Bill Relief ($50,000 / ~₦75 million): This portion will be used to clear outstanding medical bills for patients in government and public hospitals who are unable to afford necessary healthcare services.

Logistics and Data Collection

VeryDarkMan confirmed that the money is currently in his custody while the necessary groundwork is laid. He announced plans to collect comprehensive data from all 36 states of the Federation to ensure the intervention is distributed fairly and reaches those in genuine, verifiable need.

“Thank you Burna Boy for this kind gesture. God bless you, and thank you for trusting me with this much money and believing that I will carry out this project,” VeryDarkMan expressed in his message of gratitude.

Public Reaction

The announcement has sparked widespread praise across social media platforms. Fans and observers have commended Burna Boy for his “silent generosity,” noting that using his wealth to address systemic issues like prison congestion and healthcare accessibility sets a powerful example for other high-net-worth individuals in the entertainment industry.

The collaboration between the global music icon and the outspoken activist is being viewed as an unconventional but potentially highly effective partnership for grassroots social reform in Nigeria.
