In a major boost to Nigeria’s quest for continental glory, Abdul Samad Rabiu, Chairman and Founder of BUA Group, has announced a series of substantial financial incentives for the Super Eagles following their clinical 2–0 victory over Algeria at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Sharing the announcement on his Instagram page on Saturday, January 10, 2026, the billionaire businessman commended the team for lifting the spirit of the nation and pledged a high-stakes reward system for the remaining rounds of the tournament.
Breakdown of the Performance-Based Rewards
Rabiu’s pledge is designed to reward both tactical success and attacking prowess as the team enters the final stages of the competition:
- Semi-Final Victory: A reward of USD $500,000 for winning the match, with an additional USD $50,000 for every goal scored during the game.
- Final Victory: Should Nigeria lift the AFCON trophy, the Chairman has promised a grand prize of USD $1,000,000, plus USD $100,000 for every goal scored in the final.
“Congratulations to our Super Eagles players on a brilliant victory against Algeria! You have lifted the spirit of the nation, and we proudly cheer you on as you prepare for the semi-finals,” Rabiu stated. “Keep making Nigeria proud. Proudly Nigerian.”
Quarter-Final Recap: Nigeria 2–0 Algeria
The Super Eagles secured their place in the final four with a commanding performance at the Stade de Marrakech on Wednesday. The match was defined by clinical finishing and defensive solidity:
- The Opener: Talisman Victor Osimhen broke the deadlock shortly after halftime.
- The Clincher: Osimhen turned provider before the hour mark, setting up Akor Adams to double the lead and ensure Nigeria controlled the remainder of the fixture.
Osimhen, who was named Man of the Match, deflected personal praise toward his teammates: “For me, I just did my job. I tried to fight for the team and to get goals or assists, but the whole squad deserves praise.”
The Road to Rabat: Semi-Final vs. Morocco
The stakes are set to reach a fever pitch as the Super Eagles prepare to face the host nation, Morocco, in the semi-final.
- Date: Wednesday, January 14, 2026
