Former Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari, has passed away, age 82, his family has announced.
According to his family, he died on Sunday after, July 13, 2025, in a clinic in London.
“The family of the former president has announced the passing on of the former president, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, this afternoon in a clinic in London. May Allah accept him in Aljannatul Firdaus, Amin,” Garba Shehu, a former spokesman to President Buhari, wrote on X.
The late former President had a long battle with prostate cancer which saw him going to London on several occasions for treatment.
Mr. Buhari served as the president of Nigeria from 2015 to 2023 on the ticket of current ruling APC party.
A retired Nigerian army major general, he was first the military head of state of Nigeria from December 31, 1983 to August 27, 1985.
