MANCHESTER, ENGLAND — Manchester City has secured the long-term future of Brazilian winger Savinho, who signed a new contract on Friday, committing him to the Premier League champions until 2031, with an option to extend the deal by a further 12 months.
The 21-year-old was a reported target for Tottenham during the recent transfer window, but interest was cooled by City’s valuation, which was reportedly set at £70 million ($94 million).
Development and Future Ambitions
Savinho joined the club in a £31 million transfer following an impressive breakout season in European football at Girona, one of the City Football Group’s portfolio clubs. His performance was instrumental in helping Girona secure qualification for the Champions League at the end of the 2023-24 campaign.
Despite struggling to cement a regular starting spot under Pep Guardiola, Savinho demonstrated his attacking talent last season by providing 13 assists and scoring three goals across 48 appearances in his debut English season. He has also earned 13 caps for the Brazil national team.

In a statement, the player expressed gratitude for the club’s faith:

City’s director of football, Hugo Viana, affirmed the club’s confidence in the winger’s potential, saying, “Savinho is still very young, but he has already demonstrated that he possesses the qualities needed to become a truly outstanding player.”
