Bolt Ghana has reported a rise in airport rides this festive season, as Detty December kicks off and Accra becomes the go-to destination for travellers, returnees, and tourists alike.
Between November 20 and December 4th, Bolt recorded a 6.8% increase in airport trips, with ride demand expected to rise further as major concerts, weddings, and year-end events roll out across the capital.
“December in Ghana has become a major movement, literally,” said Caroline Wanjihia, Regional Director, Rides, Africa and International Markets.
“Airport pickups and drop-offs are spiking as people land for everything from Afro-themed festivals to family reunions. Bolt is proud to be the ride that gets them there, reliably, affordably, and stress-free.”
The most popular airport routes this season include:
● Kotoka to East Legon
● Airport to Osu
● Spintex to Kotoka
Bolt’s Comfort category, which features luggage-friendly cars, continues to be one of its most requested services in December.
“People don’t want to haggle or wait around after a long flight,” added Wanjihia. “That’s why we’ve scaled up our driver supply and prioritised seamless airport pickups, especially during this busy season.”
In addition to leisure travellers, Bolt Business has also seen an uptick, with many corporate clients using the platform to manage year-end team transport, airport transfers, and staff movement during holiday closures.
Bolt says it has prepared for the festive peak with:
● Increased driver availability around Kotoka International Airport
● In-app safety features including live tracking, SOS, and driver verification
● 24/7 customer support for both passengers and drivers
“Whether it’s the airport, an event, or a weekend trip to the coast, Bolt is Detty December ready,” Wanjihia added. “We’re here to keep Ghana moving.”
