The mortal remains of the late Ugandan sports administrator and former tennis player, Cedric Babu Ndilima, have arrived at the Entebbe International Airport in Uganda.
Ndilima died on Saturday, May 31, 2025 from heart complications at Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi, Kenya. He had been in intensive care for weeks.

On Thursday, June 5, Ndilima’s body will be taken to Lugogo Indoor Stadium, where sports lovers in Uganda will pay their last respects. He will then be buried this Saturday.
His death came as a devastating blow to his family.
His family had said in a statement on May 31 that “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Cedric Babu Ndilima, who left us on the 31st of May 2025 at Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi, Kenya, after a long and courageous fight.”
They said: “Cedric was a cherished father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend — loved deeply by all who knew him.”
A public fundraiser had been launched to raise £300,000 (approximately Shs 1.5 billion) for a medical evacuation to London, where he was due to undergo a life-saving heart transplant.
The 46-year-old collapsed recently in Kigali, Rwanda while on official travel and was later airlifted to Nairobi for specialized care.
Despite the efforts of medical teams and an outpouring of public support, his condition continued to deteriorate.
In recent weeks, social media campaigns under the hashtag #SaveCedric mobilized the Ugandan public, with friends, politicians, celebrities, and members of the diaspora contributing towards his treatment fund.
