Thousands of people attended the 120 years thanksgiving service and march past of Bo School in Bo Town. These included old pupils, parents, present pupils, OBBA Wives, important political leaders in the country, and other well-wishers. The President and the First Lady were also present.
Bo School is one of the best schools in Bo town and district. It has a big and beautiful compound just like the size of the national stadium in freetown that supports learning and good living. The school has a large dining hall with a television where pupils watch games and films. There is also a football field and a basketball court for sports.
The school has a hall and a library for night study. Pupils are given tea and bread in the morning, and cooked food is served twice in the afternoon hours. There is also a well furnished school canteen.
The compound has many good facilities. There is a new OBBA pavilion for meetings, an administrative building, water tanks, a standby generator, and solar lights. 16 new classrooms ( two storey building) and school gates have been built, and some old classrooms have been repaired. The school also has 16 two-storey dormitory buildings where pupils stay.
Other facilities include a greenhouse for planting pepper, a poultry for eggs, and a fish pond. There are also spaces for relaxation and houses for senior teachers.
During the celebration, more than fifteen school bands performed, including bands from Freetown like FSSG, AWMS, St. Edward’s Secondary School, and Prince of Wales School. The march past was well organized and showed discipline and unity among the pupils.
The President commissioned the two new modern school gates and classroom buildings during the event. The Old Bo Boys Association (OBBA) also showed strong support.
Alfred Mustapha Bangura attended the program as a special guest.
The celebration was successful and showed the strong history and progress of Bo School.
