In a move that’s sure to delight the Beyhive, Beyoncé has been named the greatest pop star of the 21st century by Billboard. The music charting site announced its top pick on Tuesday, citing Beyoncé’s impressive 25-year track record of influence, impact, and evolution.
According to Billboard, Beyoncé’s commitment to innovation, excellence, and pushing boundaries has made her the gold standard against which all other pop stars are measured. With a record-breaking 32 Grammy wins and 11 additional nods for her 2024 album “Cowboy Carter,” Beyoncé’s impressive resume is hard to ignore.
The “Texas Hold ‘Em” singer has a long history of dominating Billboard’s charts, with nine No. 1 songs and 24 top 10 songs on the Hot 100. Eight of her albums have claimed the top spot on the Billboard 200 album chart, starting with her 2003 debut solo album “Dangerously in Love”.
Billboard’s top 10 picks for the greatest pop stars of the 21st century also include Taylor Swift at No. 2, Rihanna at No. 3, and other big names like Adele, Ariana Grande, and Justin Bieber. Katy Perry rounds out the top 25 at No. 25 ².
