Ayariga pledges GH¢5,000 minimum salary if elected

The Presidential candidate of the All People’s Congress (APC), Hassan Ayariga, has outlined an ambitious economic vision for Ghana as part of his 2024 campaign, pledging a significant increase in wages if elected.

During the launch of his Nation’s Manifesto, Ayariga unveiled plans to transform Ghana and restore hope to its citizens, focusing heavily on economic reforms aimed at improving the lives of workers.

Speaking at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) Auditorium on Sunday, September 22, 2024, Ayariga made a bold promise to raise the minimum salary to GH¢5,000 if he wins the upcoming presidential election.

In addition to this, he pledged to increase the current minimum wage, which stands at GH¢18, to between GH¢150 and GH¢300.

Ayariga also introduced a plan to shift from the monthly salary payment system to a bi-weekly one, meaning employees would be paid every two weeks, which he argued would help improve financial stability for Ghanaian workers.

He emphasized that the current salary levels in Ghana are insufficient, leaving many unable to meet their basic needs.

“Our people deserve better wages. We cannot expect people to live on salaries that don’t even cover basic expenses. This needs to change, and under my leadership, it will.”

Ayariga’s manifesto launch follows his official clearance by the Electoral Commission (EC),  to contest the 2024 presidential election.

His campaign is centered on his vision of a transformed Ghana, with a strong focus on wage reforms and economic growth.
