The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, has extended warm congratulations to Ismail Omar Guelleh following his re-election as President of the Republic of Djibouti.
In an official statement, Youssouf acknowledged the results announced by Djibouti’s electoral authority, affirming the outcome of the presidential election. He praised the people of Djibouti for their peaceful participation, describing it as a strong demonstration of commitment to democratic governance, national unity, and stability.
The AU Commission Chairperson also highlighted Djibouti’s strategic role in promoting peace, security, and regional cooperation in the Horn of Africa. He reaffirmed the African Union’s dedication to advancing the continent’s long-term development blueprint, Agenda 2063, in partnership with member states.
Youssouf further commended the efforts of the African Union Election Observation Mission, noting its professionalism throughout the electoral process. Special recognition was given to Bernard Makuza, who led the mission.
Concluding his remarks, the AU Chairperson expressed confidence in President Guelleh’s leadership and extended his best wishes for a successful new term in office.
