Several Afrobeats superstars are converging on Atlanta, USA to perform live at the 16th edition of the Headies Awards.
This year’s Headies Awards ceremony is deemed the biggest convergence of Afrobeats superstars in the world.
The Headies – Africa’s global award for Afrobeats Music – will be held on September 3, 2023 at the Cobb Energy Centre, Atlanta, USA.
The star-studded ceremony will witness live performances from some of Africa’s popular Afrobeats singers.
Billed to perform at the ceremony are: Fireboy, KCEE, Asake, Ayra Starr, Rema, Spyro, Victony and Seyi Vibez.
Other African music superstars lined up to perform live at the ceremony are Libianca Fonji, Niniola , Oxlade, Young Jonn, Wande Coal, and Johnny Drille.
16th Headies Awards Nominees
The 16th Headies Awards will honor musical projects released between January 2022 and March 2023.
It would be recalled that the organizers of the Headies Awards released the nomination list for this year’s Headies on July 12, 2023.
Nigeria’s music duo, Rema and Burna Boy, Ghanaian singer, Black Sherif, Tanzania’s Diamond Platnumz, and Moroccan musician, Marwa Loud, are the nominees for this year’s African Artiste Of The Year.
This year’s Headies Award will honor musical projects released between January 2022 and March 2023.
The nomination list features an array of both local and international artists that have been recognised for their contribution to the music scene in the past year.
Burna Boy received the most nods on the list with a total of 11 nominations. He was nominated for the Album of the Year alongside Davido, Rema, Asake, Omah Lay and Victony.
This year’s award will also recognise international artistes who have made their mark in the Nigerian music industry. The nominees for the 2023 International Artiste of the Year Category include Drake, Future, Selena Gomez, Don Toliver and Ed Sheeran.
