Atiku Abubakar Foundation Awards Scholarships to TeenEagle Global Finals Champions

On August 5, 2025, the Atiku Abubakar Foundation (AAF) announced fully-funded scholarships for three Nigerian teenagers—Nafisa Abdullahi, Rukaiya Mohammed Fema, and Khadija Kashim Kalli—for their outstanding performances at the 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals in London, held from July 27 to August 3 at the University of Surrey. The trio, students at Nigerian Tulip International College in Yobe State, excelled among over 20,000 participants from 69 countries in the prestigious academic competition, which tests English proficiency, critical thinking, and communication skills.

  • Nafisa Abdullahi, 17, was named Overall Best in English Language Skills, recognized for her exceptional command of English, critical thinking, and eloquent delivery.

  • Rukaiya Mohammed Fema, 15, topped the debate category, showcasing sharp intellectual prowess.

  • Khadija Kashim Kalli earned the Outstanding Talent Award and a gold medal for her remarkable performance.

In a letter signed by Prof. Ahmadu Shehu, Acting Secretary of AAF, the Foundation praised their “remarkable success,” stating, “Your outstanding performance at the TeenEagle Global Finals, where you emerged as global winners in various categories, is a testament to your academic excellence and the boundless potential of all children to achieve their dreams, regardless of gender, social class, or background.” The scholarships will cover the remainder of their secondary education and full university tuition at any institution of their choice, reflecting AAF’s commitment to empowering Nigerian youth, particularly girls from underrepresented communities.

The announcement, reported by outlets like PUNCH, The Guardian, and Daily Trust, drew praise from former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who lauded Nafisa’s achievement as “a powerful testament to the limitless potential of the Nigerian girl-child when provided with quality education.” President Bola Tinubu and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni also commended the trio, with Tinubu calling them “repositories of excellence” and Buni attributing their success to his administration’s educational investments. Social media posts on X celebrated the scholarships, with users like @Pharmacio001 and @Yola_Twitta hailing Atiku’s commitment to education.
