Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, the Founder and General Overseer of Action Chapel International, one of Ghana’s renowned charismatic churches, says John Dramani Mahama has returned as President of Ghana with a clear vision and determination.
Duncan Williams expressed
strong confidence in Mr. Mahama’s capacity to offer credible and transformational leadership during his second and final tenure as President of Ghana.
The respected Christian cleric in an interview on The Point of View on Accra-based Channel One TV with Bernard Avle on Monday, July 7, praised Mahama’s renewed sense of purpose, describing him as both a visionary and a selfless leader.
According to him, Mahama’s return to office is grounded in experience and a clear resolve to learn from the past and chart a more impactful course for Ghana’s development.
Mr. Mahama who served from 2012 to 2017, lost his second term bid in December 2016 but made a historic comeback to the presidency after winning the December 7, 2020 presidential election with a landslide victory.
Duncan Williams says “When you look at some of the crises on our continent, it just doesn’t make sense. I don’t want to mention names of countries, but it just doesn’t make sense for us to retrogress with all that we have. And this country and continent have had some great leaders, and still do in certain areas.”
He says “And there’s no reason why this continent and our country, Ghana, must not thrive and flourish. There’s no reason why our currency cannot do better. With the gold reserves we have and the oil and cocoa, we can do better.”
He continued, “We just need visionary leaders and selfless leaders. And I believe that President John Dramani is a visionary leader, a selfless leader, because he has been here before. He has learned from his past mistakes, and he has come back with a drive and passion and a determination to correct the mistakes of the past and make a difference and to go down in history as one who walked and came back with a difference.”
The Archbishop’s endorsement comes at a time when the country is focused on inclusive governance, economic stability, and renewed faith in political leadership. His comments add to the national discourse around leadership accountability and the expectations of the current administration.
