Angola is set to unveil its first-ever digital mining register at the Angola International Mining Conference (AIMC 2025) next week, marking a significant milestone in the country’s efforts to modernize its mineral sector and attract foreign investment.
The two-day event, scheduled for 22–23 October in Luanda, will convene more than 500 delegates and 70 high-profile speakers to highlight Angola’s emergence as one of Africa’s most promising mining destinations.
Organized by the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Petroleum and Gas in partnership with Sankofa Advisory Group, VUKA Group, and Bumbar Mining, AIMC 2025 will provide a strategic platform to showcase Angola’s vast geological potential, industrial ambitions, and ongoing governance reforms.
Held under the theme “Driving Investment, Innovation and Industrialisation in Angola’s Mining Sector,” the conference will feature in-depth sessions on financing strategies, regulatory frameworks, sustainable logistics, and community engagement.
The launch of the digital mining register is expected to be one of the event’s major highlights. The platform will enhance transparency, improve access to geological and licensing data, and streamline procedures for investors seeking opportunities in Angola’s mineral sector. Officials say the register will also strengthen regulatory oversight and reinforce Angola’s reputation as a reform-driven economy committed to responsible resource management.
“The opportunities are vast, the framework is in place, and global partnerships are ready to accelerate Angola’s growth trajectory,” said Mineral Resources, Petroleum and Gas Minister Diamantino Pedro Azevedo. “We are entering a new era of transformation.”
President João Lourenço is expected to open the conference alongside international mining leaders including Feriel Zerouki, President of the World Diamond Council; Tim George, CEO of Pensana Plc; and Ken Tainton, Managing Director of Rio Tinto.
Other confirmed speakers include António Pedro, former Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), and Verónica Bolton Smith, CEO of the Critical Minerals Africa Group.
Leading operators such as CATOCA, ENDIAMA, SODIAM, Ivanhoe Mines, Rio Tinto, De Beers, and Sonangol will also participate, underscoring Angola’s growing influence in the global mining landscape.
Industry analysts believe the introduction of the digital register, combined with regulatory reforms and rising investor interest, could mark a turning point for Angola’s mining industry—paving the way for greater transparency, economic diversification, and sustainable development.
