Angola’s National Oil, Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANPG) has announced plans to enter into an exclusive negotiation agreement with energy multinational Shell for the exploration and development of several offshore oil blocks, including Blocks 19, 34, and 35, along with additional ultra-deepwater areas.
In a statement released Thursday evening, the ANPG confirmed that the official signing ceremony will take place on November 3. The agency described the agreement as a “significant milestone” that reinforces Shell’s long-term commitment to Angola’s energy landscape.
Angola, the second-largest oil producer in Sub-Saharan Africa after Nigeria, has been enacting sweeping regulatory and investment reforms to boost investor confidence and sustain national production above one million barrels of crude oil per day.
Officials say the new deal underscores Angola’s ongoing efforts to modernize its oil sector, attract global partners, and maintain its competitiveness in the international energy market.
