Amadia Shopping Centre Clarifies Manager’s Actions Regarding Chef Smith’s GWR Attempt

Amadia Shopping Centre, proud sponsor of Chef Ebenezer Smith’s Guinness World Record (GWR) cook-a-thon attempt, has provided clarification regarding the incident involving their manager, Nana Boroo, interrupting Chef Smith’s press conference on July 2.

We remain fully committed to supporting Chef Smith in his record-breaking attempt and are eager to see him succeed.

In a statement issued on Thursday, July 4, Amadia Shopping Centre explained that it had entered into a three-year sponsorship agreement with Chef Smith to support his record-breaking attempt. Owned by Mrs. Nana Ama Duodu, the shopping centre funded and organized the month-long event.

According to the statement, following the conclusion of the record attempt, Amadia Shopping Centre made several attempts to contact Chef Smith regarding the progress of video uploads and the response from Guinness World Records (GWR) but has yet to receive a reply.

The statement further noted that Chef Smith did not inform Amadia Shopping Centre about the press conference where he intended to announce the GWR certificate, which the shopping centre asserts violated their sponsorship contract.

“The contract stipulated that the sponsor has the right of first refusal for any sponsored activities or projects after the attempt,” the statement emphasized. “Numerous calls to Chef Smith’s management for clarification about the press conference were ignored.”

Due to the lack of communication, Nana Boroo and a team from Amadia Shopping Centre visited the La Palm Hotel, where the press conference was taking place, to verify the authenticity of the GWR certificate. However, they were denied entry to the conference room.

“To protect Amadia Shopping Centre’s brand, management called the police to halt the press conference until Chef Smith could provide proof of the GWR certificate’s authenticity,” the statement clarified.

The police intervened after the announcement of results and the presentation of the GWR certificate. Following a brief altercation, Chef Smith and his manager were taken to the police station for questioning. The police were called to ensure the safety of all parties involved and to maintain order during the heated situation.

Amadia Shopping Centre stated that the police are now investigating the authenticity of Chef Smith’s GWR certificate. The shopping centre reaffirmed its commitment to sponsoring and supporting legitimate record-breaking attempts. We believe in the spirit of competition and will continue to support and sponsor such endeavors, while ensuring transparency and adherence to contractual agreements.
