Canadian rapper and songwriter AK SLIM has unveiled the dynamic visuals for his latest single “Shuka Chini”, featuring Tanzanian rap icon G Nako — a collaboration that bridges continents and cultures in electrifying fashion.
Shot on the vibrant streets of Dar es Salaam and directed by Visior Mufasa, the video bursts with energy, capturing AK SLIM and G Nako trading verses amid bustling city scenes, dancers, and stylish backdrops. The one-day shoot was polished to perfection by Toronto-based editor New Visuals, delivering a seamless blend of East African flair and North American polish.
AK SLIM revealed that the project took shape after a chance meeting with G Nako at Wanene Studios in Dar es Salaam. Days later, the two hit the studio with producer Daz Naledge, crafting what is now one of AK SLIM’s most refined tracks to date.
Born in Calgary and now based in Vancouver, AK SLIM has deep roots in Tanzania and Nigeria, and his music reflects the rich cultural tapestry of his heritage. His grandfather, a Nigerian native, founded Calgary’s renowned AFRIKADEY! festival, which has hosted global stars like K’NAAN and Angelique Kidjo.
Shuka Chini marks AK SLIM’s second collaboration with a Tanzanian artist, following his 2023 breakout single “My Style” featuring Country Wizzy, which earned him major acclaim in East Africa.
With Shuka Chini, AK SLIM continues to carve out a bold cross-cultural identity, blending lyrical finesse with global beats — and this latest video is proof he’s just getting started.
