African Music Business Roundtable set to revolutionise industry

In a bid to preserve, sustain, and influence the future of the African music industry, a group of music veterans and enthusiasts have introduced the African Music Business Roundtable.

The initiative, according to the conveners, aims to address critical challenges and seize opportunities within the African music business ecosystem.

At a press parley in Lagos, Michael Odiong (FCAI), Co-founder and Executive Director, emphasized the need for strategic discussion and collaboration to ensure the industry’s sustainability and equitable development.

The Roundtable will focus on six essential topics, including the true value of the Nigerian music industry, preserving authenticity in Afrobeats, and the implications of artificial intelligence on copyright protection.

He said: “While we celebrate the significant progress made, we must also address the pressing need for strategic discussion and collaboration to ensure the industry’s sustainability and equitable development.

“Their vision and leadership are pivotal in bringing this Roundtable to fruition.”

Scheduled for the second quarter of 2025, the African Music Business Roundtable will be a two-day, invite-only event. The Roundtable aims to generate actionable solutions that will advance the industry towards greater success.

Dr. Chinedu Chukwuji, Co-founder and Executive Director (International Partnerships), stated that the vision of the Roundtable is to formulate actionable plans that address critical challenges.
