Morocco and PSG right back, Achraf Hakimi, has won the African Footballer of The Year Award at the 2025 CAF Awards.
He was announced the winner of the prestigious award during the CAF Awards ceremony held in Rabat, Morocco, on Wednesday night, November 19, 2025.
Hakimi, who won the 2024 – 2025 Uefa Champions League title with PSG, beat competitions from Nigeria and Galatasaray’s Victor Osimhen, and Egypt and Liverpool’s Mohammed Salah.

His award is historic as he becomes the first Moroccan to win the CAF topmost award since Mustapha Hadji in 1998.
In 2023, Osimhen won the award. In 2024, another Nigerian player, Ademola Lookman of Atalanta, won the award.
Hakimi was a key member of the PSG side that won the French Ligue 1, the French Cup, and the Uefa Champions League during the 2024/2025 season.
For this year’s CAF African Women’s footballer of the year award, Morocco’s Ghizlane Chebbak won, beating competition from Nigeria’s Rasheedat Ajibade.
