Ayola unveils tracklist for upcoming album ‘The Life I Want’

Afro-soul singer and songwriter Ayola has announced the release of his sophomore album, “The Life I Want.”

The album, set to drop on Friday, will feature seven songs, all recorded between Canada and Nigeria.

The Canada-based music star whose artist name is Abdullah Abubakre—shared the album cover art and tracklist earlier this week on his social media platforms.

Ayola will also hold his first-ever musical show this Friday, coinciding with the album release, at Kairus Hub in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.

“I took a little break after my debut album ‘CtillD’ to reflect on my artistic desires. The Life I Want” was written and recorded during a transitory time. It’s a journey and an implicit story, and I am thrilled to share it with you,” he wrote.

Ayola, who’s from Osun State but raised in Ilorin, Kwara State, grew up singing at home and listening to the nostalgic Afro-juju songs of King Sunny Ade during road trips with his father.

In 2020, he released his debut cinematic EP titled ‘Scum’ under Soul City Music Co-op, an artist-owned music label based in Windsor, Ontario. ‘Scum’ was an Afrosoul sanctuary of emotional explorations and an honest approach to modern relationship drama.

The following year, Ayola released his first studio album, titled “Conversations Till Dawn” (CtillD).
